Cath Lab Tech

Cath Lab Technicians work in cardiac catheterization laboratories, assisting cardiologists and other medical professionals in diagnosing and treating cardiovascular conditions. General Requirements

To become a cath lab technician, you typically need:

  • A postsecondary certificate or associate's degree in invasive cardiology or a related field
  • Completion of a training program approved by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP)
  • Passing the Certified Cath Lab Technician (CCLT) or Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (CVTS) exam
  • State-specific certifications or licenses may be required
